Step 1

Make candy petals. Make six copies of petal pattern. Tape patterns to cake board and cover with parchment. Melt dark and light cocoa Candy Melts candy, separately, according to package directions. Use pattern and melted dark cocoa candy in cut decorating bag to pipe 1/8 in. thick petal outline. Chill until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Use melted light cocoa candy in cut decorating bag to fill in petal outlines. Tap to smooth. Chill until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes. Gently slide spatula under petal to release.

Step 2

Make flower truffle center. Use melted dark cocoa candy in cut parchment bag to fill one cavity of truffle mold. Tap to smooth. Chill until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes. Unmold according to package directions.

Step 3

Make layered cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions using 2 in. high pans. Bake and cool 2-layer cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Layer and fill on foil-wrapped cake circle for a 4 in. high cake.

Step 4

Ice cake. Tint remaining icing light green. Use spatula and green icing to ice cake smooth. Place on cake stand.

Step 5

Attach petals and truffle center to cake. Use icing in cut disposable decorating bag to attach petals to cake, and flower truffle to flower center. The petals will extend above and below the cake.
