Welcome Back Barbie™

April 11th, 2012 by Joanne Winston-Spencer

Each year Wilton introduces new licensed character products. In doing so, we always strive to stay current and fun. What is being searched for on our website? What are the hottest themes kids want for their birthday parties? What is selling off the shelves at retail? The answer this year is Barbie™!

Barbie™ has previously been in Wilton’s lineup and is making her reintroduction this Summer. With 9,000 searches on Wilton.com in 2011, you told us Barbie™ is ready for a comeback!

Barbie™ Cake Pan When designing the Barbie™ pan, we were careful to stay true to Barbie’s image, but didn’t want the decorating to be intimidating. Our licensed pans are meant to be fun to work with!

We know that faces are the most complicated part of decorating character cakes. Cartoon faces are easier to achieve with icing. Human-like faces are complex.

Keeping in mind that character pans are popular with busy parents who may be inexperienced cake decorators, we wanted to help make the decorating experience easy so you can make an amazing cake! To that end, the Barbie™ cake pan will include a plastic facemaker, which eliminates the need to decorate her face.

With all the time saved on attempting to re-create Barbie’s beautiful face out of icing, you can spend more time creatively dressing her up. For example, the top portion of her dress could be altered and colors changed. A necklace could be added or even earrings. The packaging instructions will show a pink headband with bow. The possibilities are endless!

Will you be planning a Barbie™ party? Did you contribute to her comeback? I’d love to hear about it!

Perhaps you can start offering the Barbie cake course at Michaels!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gail is the best teacher ever…..Weston and 7…

  5. I also have the Barbie pan but I never did have the face maker. I am thrilled that it is coming back. I’m hoping though that I can buy the face maker separately. If only one comes with the pan. what do you use for other cakes that you make later? I’ll gladly buy a new pan but it still gives me only one face maker. Maybe I am missunderstanding how it works & it can be used over again. Could someone let me know.

I can’t be sure of this, I haven’t seen the pan but if it is like an elmo face I have you just wash it and re-use it. If you are careful storing it, you can get MANY uses out of it. I agree though it would be nice if you could buy extra faces.

Will they sell the face seperately? I just bought this pan but I dont want to have to worry about someone throwing it out by mistake. Your old Barbie pan had a plastic piece that you could by extra ones seperately, Will Wilton do the same again? Its sad to think my old Barbie pans are no longer useable because they don’t offer the old plastic pieces anymore. I would hate to think that this one would be no good if the face cracks or the color comes off or it gets lost. Please consider making replacement faces available for purchase.
