Sweet Treats for Halloween

September 24th, 2009 by Beth Somers

I have such great memories of Trick or Treating; running from house to house with my sister and friends, staying out until it was dark and we were tired from lugging around heavy bags of goodies. Back then, my favorite candy was chocolate, often with caramel or peanuts.

I eat a lot more adventurously these days, but I still love chocolate, and nothing says “Halloween” like candy. If you’re having a Halloween party this year, why not let homemade candy take center stage? Wilton makes it so easy to create unique candies in lots of shapes, colors, and flavors that are perfect for fright night.

With colorful Wilton Candy Melts®, and our spooky shaped molds, anyone can make amazing Halloween candy. There’s no need for a candy thermometer or tricky chocolate tempering techniques. Just put Candy Melts® into a decorating bag, melt in the microwave at 50% power, and pipe into your candy mold. Use the Spooky Green or Midnight Black colors for candy that really sets a scary scene.

Present your guests with a lot of variety. Wilton offers lots of shaped candy molds. Fun witch finger pretzel pops are a great combination of salty and sweet. Creepy candy eyeballs keep a close watch over the party. Candy-coated cookies reveal a sweet surprise inside. If your Halloween bash is for kids, Wilton has the perfect party activity: candy necklaces that they’ll love to string, wear and eat.

Making these treats will definitely put you in the Halloween spirit, and eating them is even better. How creative can you get with your candy this Halloween?
