If you have youngsters, it seems like there’s always a birthday party on the schedule. When it’s your turn to host, you want to do something special. After all, kids can be tough critics—so make sure your kid’s party includes fun treats and exciting activities. With a Pops Party, you will have the best of both worlds!
You know how much kids love to eat pops. At their age, it doesn’t get better than holding a sweet treat on a stick. But a treat tastes even better when it’s a personalized pop kids decorate themselves. You’re sure to have a captive audience ready to get in on the fun of pop-making and munching.

Best of all, a pops party is easy to put together. My neighbor, Manjusha, recently hosted a pops party for her daughters and shared some of the fun details in the letter below. Manjusha had never made or decorated pops before—and now she and all her guests are big pops fans. After you read about her experience, I think you’ll want to become a pops pro too!
Dear Eric,
We had so much fun on Friday night with the Pops Party. The girls really enjoyed the event—it was extremely easy to do. I made the cake pops earlier in the day. The recipe was very easy to follow and it was accurate. Then I created “stations” for each of the different pop designs.

The girls walked into a room that was fully set up. The first step was to create the base coating. The girls had so much fun twirling the pops in the Candy Melts mixture. It was very easy to do. And, as long as they worked quickly, the pops stayed on the sticks with no problem. The only time we had an issue was if the Candy Melts mixture needed to be remelted or if the girls left the pops in the mixture for too long.

We waited about 30 minutes before decorating the pops—decorating was the best part! You would not believe the amount of laughter in the room. The girls had so much fun. There were 5 girls, ages K-4. That’s pretty young…yet, they could totally make some very cool pops! After making a couple pops apiece, the girls got more ambitious. We had several 3-eyed aliens.

It really was a great time. All of the Wilton products were great. They were all very easy to work with. The instructions were right on. Thanks for everything.

I made reindeer pops for our Christmas Party!!! Everyone loved how cute they were and they were soooo yummy too
I made cake pops last year for a bake sale, and they were gobbled up in less than 30 minutes! They were a HUGE hit! But, I never thought about doing it for a kids birthday party. Hmmm… I bet my daughter would love it! She turns 7 next year, so it’d be perfect!
Those are so cool!!!! I would like to learn how to make them
Great idea for birthday parties…even girl scouts for my brownie troop at camp! Thanks!!
I made Cake Pops on one occasion but would love to learn how to make them better!
What a fun party! I have not tried to make them yet. I would like to give it a try for my daughter’s upcoming birthday next month.
I think this is a great idea! Last year for my daughters 7th birthday we did a similiar thing and I made cake in the shape of popsicles, frosted them with white buttercream frosting and then let the kids (12) decorate the individual cakes with writing icing. They had a blast and I will definitely use the idea in the future!
My 5 year old Autistic son is having a birthday in March. We are always looking for ways to incorporate fun with therapy. He needs to work one his fine motor control i.e. holding pencils, crayons and other long thin objects. Making pops would be an amazingly fun birthday party aka therapy session! Putting on the decorations would also encompass using fine motor control practice. I am very interested in looking in to this and I can’t wait to start!
This looks like so much fun! I think boys would even enjoy it! I’m thinking this could be a great Cub Scout activity!
Thanks!
The article was very interesting having 8 grandchildren and often fund raising for School I would find it very interesting to try?
Same here, Barb! My son with ASD is turning 8 in March. He loves cakes and anything with chocolates! I just started making cake pops and would love to learn more tricks.
I would love to teach this to my girl scout troop!
I am excited to try these out for our 3 Day Walk bake sale!
I love doing things with the kids. I can’t wait to try this. After reading the comments, I am absolutely going to make these for our bake sale in the spring. What a great idea! Thanks
It is souch fun. I didn’t think the teen girls coming to a party at our house would like making pops but when I didn’t
Get them finished before the party, they jumped in an had a ball making their own pops. For a short time I was the cool mom.
I never thought of having a Pop’s party! What a good idea! I want to try making animal pops! I have only made plain pops with sprinkles.
I honestly have been a little ‘scared’ of making pops thinking they would be hard, but I would love to have some instruction and learn! I have seen them recently at a baby shower and they were adorable and also a great hit with the kids.
I have made plenty of pops they are my most asked for product (my mom and aunt have ordered over 1500 in the last 6 months, one of the orders was for 500) I have always wanted to do the special characters and such but have only done swirls and sugar sprinkels The dry soo fast and no matter what I do they never look as round and perfect as in the pics.
These look like such a fun idea–and a great project for kids–can’t wait to try them out!
I love the pops, im going to experiment with some valentines pops and can’t wait to get going. This is an amazing idea. I work in an after school learning centre and I know about 500 kids who would love for me to bring in some of these adorable treats to share!
I would love to try these for the girls at my daughter’s gym class!
I tried to do those pops, but I couldn’t. I am going to try again, I’ve been reading and getting tips.
.
I’ll try again, I won’t give up
I usually make cookies for my kids to take to school for their birthdays, but after reading all the success people have had with pops, I have decided to try them instead. I have everything I hope I am going to need, and can’t wait to get started.

You keep it up now, unedrsntad? Really good to know.
I have really been trying to perfect my pops. I would like to be able to use Wilton candy melts and thin them. I know Crisco shortening helps to thin them, but I don’t really like this because it adds more fat for no reason. I have heard paramount crystals is an excellent choice, but I will have to special order those or visit a cake supply place that is out of town. Is there any chance you will be offering a thinning product like this along side the pops products you sell in your retail stores like Michaels? Thanks!!!
As an avid baker and a Mom to 4 kids, I would LOVE to win a copy of this book. It would also be fun to have a “Pops Party” for our girls at church and then take them to a nursing home to give out or something. Thanks for the chance to win!
I’ve made cake pops before and they are so much fun. Would love some new ideas. The kids would have so much fun making them.
I think my 4-year-old daughter will love to have a pops party like this with her best friends!!
How interesting are these? The Pops certainly caught my eye and now I am thinking of the birthday parties and classroom parties that these would be perfect for!!!! I can not wait to see what ideas the kids bring to this party! Thanks for the idea.
Thank you for a quick overview on how to have a Pops Party! We have done cupcakes parties at our house, and Pops sound like another fun activity to do!
This would be a great way to teach my kids early on about baking and decorating. Great idea!
Love this idea! Wish I would have seen it before my daughters sweet sixteen party. . .but no worries with 4 kids I am sure I can use this idea for another party! Have been making cakeballs for awhile now so excited to do something different.
This would be such a fun thing to do for a Mom’s Night Out!
