At Wilton, we are proud of our 85 year history. What started as a small school in the dining room of Dewey McKinley Wilton’s Chicago home has grown into an internationally-recognized school of cake decorating and confectionery art. Becoming a “Master” at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating and Confectionery Art
Friday, November 30th, 2012Prior to working at Wilton, I never imagined I had the ability or patience to create a beautifully decorated cake. I quickly developed an interest in the cake masterpieces on Wilton’s website and throughout the Wilton yearbooks, so my curiosity turned into action as I became enamored with baking and decorating cakes and sweet treats. Wilton Cake Decorating Course 1 – My Journey Begins
Wednesday, October 31st, 2012When I was growing up, I did a lot of the cookie and cake baking for our large family. After I left home, my baking days were put on the back burner until I started my own family. Since I was known for my creativity, the simple iced cakes and cupcakes I had been making for years did not fit the bill. Protect Your Tools in Transport and Storage
Thursday, April 19th, 2012It seems like the longer I work for Wilton, the more I like to decorate cakes! I had to start somewhere, so last year I took the Wilton Method Decorating Basics Course (Course 1) to learn the basics of cake decorating. I found myself transporting and storing my tools in plastic bags and cardboard boxes. I asked myself, do other decorators have this same problem? (more…)

New Deluxe Practice Board
Monday, April 16th, 2012The Wilton tradition of cake decorating dates back to the late 1920’s when McKinley Wilton started to teach Pulled Sugar to European Chefs and Culinary Artists, and he in turn, learned the time honored European pastry techniques.
