Holidays are that special time of the year where we like to spoil the ones we love. Cookies, candies and gingerbread houses are yummy treats we create in my home. I saw the Holly Leaf Cookie Pan and knew that I was going to make my treats with candy. I love the versatility of Wilton pans!
I melted green Candy Melts® Candy at short intervals of time on the defrost setting in the microwave, stirred, and repeated until smooth. I also did the same with red and light cocoa Candy Melts. Using a decorator brush, I “painted” the candy in the pan, creating a shell. I also used the Bite Size Gingerbread Boy Mold with the light cocoa melts. I put the pans in the refrigerator to set the candy.
I wanted to fill the candy with fudge, so I made that while the shells were hardening. You could also add caramel or peanut butter filling to the leaves. To make the fudge, I mixed 1 bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and 1 can of Sweetened Condensed Milk in a bowl. I cooked it in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirred it smooth, and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla. I then spooned the fudge into my candy shells being careful not to overfill the molds so that I would be able to seal the backs with candy and have them lay flat.
I then added a layer of melted candy over the fudge layer.
I put both pans in the refrigerator until the candy was set. I used a plastic spoon to lift the corner of the candy. My candy may have stuck a little due to the fudge, so you will want to make sure that your candy shell has a good coat so the fudge does not seep through and adhere to the pan.
To assemble my sweet treat, I used a 6” cake circle. I brushed melted candy on the backs of the Holly Leaves and bow and attached those to the cake circle. I then put the melted candy on the backs of the gingerbread boys and Snowman with Stripe Mint Royal Icing Decorations and added those to the leaves. I cut the remaining fudge and put it in Mini Red Baking Cups and put them in the center of my wreath. I created a sweet treat for all to enjoy! What type of treat will you make in this pan?
Wishing you and yours a happy holiday!
