Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think adding mix-ins to batter is so fun, because you can make more than one cake with the same batter, and still have completely different tasting cakes. My favorite is adding crushed candy bars like Heath or Snickers,or even crushed chocolate chip cookies to chocolate batter. I've also added apple pie filling to a spice cake batter, which is very yummy. There is one that my husband just loves! To a white batter I add coconut milk instead of water, and coconut flakes. Can't go wrong with that. And I usually add to every batter,a box of instant pudding in any flavor, along with an extra 1/4 cup water, and 1/3 cup oil. Makes your cake extra moist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have always been a baker of sorts. I make my cakes moist with a special secret ingredient ... (not telling! :)) Everyone has always commented on their exceptional moistness. But I ventured out one day, looking for a new cake flavor to impress my Big Brother, a cake disliker, for the most part. I add Nestle Tollhouse Semi Minis or a peanut butter chip, typically to a yellow cake batter. This has been the familiy's all-time favorite add-in. He loves cake now, but usually just mine. I add in several different flavors to other cake batter, depending on the receiver and their likes/dislikes. Or the holidays. I love chocolate cake with Ande's Mint chunks! Thanks for this wonderful idea, Wilton!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I picked this for review because it was the closest to what I wanted to say. There wasn't one on the "help desk" which I wanted to comment on. Every time that I am in a bind and I can't find the answers on the Forums, the "little elves" at the information desk are wonderful. I know there is some lag time because they get so many requests, but I have always found that they come through! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work and being there when I needed them! They are the "add in" that makes a difference in my baking!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adding color is my favorite...rainbow colors really bring a smile to someone when the cuppies are divided and surprise! color!! It's also a great alternative when you have a family member or friend who's allergic to nuts. My son loves to help me with the add-ins and has some ideas of his own like dried friuts. We did learn to fill the liners about half full then add the extras...just to make sure that the batter didn't overflow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USING MIX-INS IS A GREAT WAY TO GET YOUR KIDS INVOLVED. WE ALWAYS FIND SOMETHING TO ADD TO OUR HOMEMADE CAKES, BISCUITS AND BROWNIES. I MAKE THEM THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY THINK WOULD BE A GOOD MIX IN AND WHY NOT. OUR FAVORITE IS TO ADD CHOCOLATE CHIPS AND SPRINKLES TO BROWNIES OR CINNAMON CHIPS TO VANILLA CAKE!!! THE KIDS GET TO STIR THEM IN AND FEEL LIKE THEY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING. THEN WE WILL COMPLIMENT THE CAKE WITH SPRINKLES ON TOP WITH THE ICING OR BROWNIES.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mix ins to the batter are a fun way to personalize your cakes. They can also help make a box cake taste better when you do not have the ingredients or time to make from scratch. It is fun to experiment by adding different mix ins to different flavors of batter. It is also interesting to see the look on peoples faces when they cut into the cake not expecting the "explosion" of color (if you add a colorful mix in) or the wonder surprising taste the mix in gives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My kids and I love making these, they love going through the cabinets to find hard candies to crush or sugar sprinkles or various other things to mix into our "special" cupcakes. My kids are 2, 3, 4, 6, and 10 and I love any thing like this that bring us all together in the kitchen to cook together. Plus letting the kids sprinkle the mix ins on top of their cupcakes so they can decorate their own is always a treat for them, and for my camera and memories.
