Becoming a Wilton Wholesaler

What is expected of a Wilton Distributor or Wholesaler?

A Wilton distributor is expected to carry in inventory a broad selection of popular Wilton products and to make our products available to any retailer in your territory. If you are only carrying a small selection of Wilton products in your own outlets, then you are a Wholesaler.

What is the minimum international order?

A minimum dollar value of US $1,000 per shipment is required for any international shipment. Orders must be placed in standard pack quantities. If your order does not meet our $1,000 minimum, you will be asked to increase your order over this amount.

How can I pay for my order?

Unless otherwise arranged, payment is in advance of shipment. Payment may be made by credit card, wire transfer, Letter of Credit or by check. We cannot begin to process your order until payment has cleared our bank.

What are Wilton's shipping methods?

Our terms are ex-works. You may have your own freight forwarder pick up the goods at our warehouse for shipment as you desire. If you do not have a forwarder of choice, Wilton can obtain freight quotes for you using our preferred carriers and forward these quotes to you. You would need to approve and pre-pay for these freight services. For small orders, shipment by courier (UPS, Federal Express) is possible. You would need to provide us with your courier account number in advance.

Can I buy licensed character items that I see in the Wilton yearbook?

Currently, we may not sell licensed character items to customers outside of the USA (even if they have a U.S. shipping address). The only exception is if you own a particular character license, and provide a copy of the license to Wilton for review.

What are the different types of bakeware that Wilton has?

Besides the aluminum bakeware that is very popular for cake decorating, Wilton also offers several ranges of non-stick bakeware products from opening price point to high quality specialty bakeware. These items are not shown in our annual Yearbook, so please ask our International Sales department for a copy of our Bakeware summary sheet and/or product sell sheets.

Are any displays/racks available?

Wilton does carry racks for display of some of our products, including candles, tips, decorating tubes, etc. Please inquire for a copy of our Racks & Displays presentation. These displays may be purchased from Wilton on a forecasted basis.

International Wholesaler Information

Can I revise my order after I submit it to Wilton?

We understand that revisions to orders are sometimes necessary after receiving our initial Proforma Invoice showing what is available to you. However, a limit of two (2) revisions to any order are allowed.

Might my fill rate increase by the shipping date?

Our Proforma Invoices reflect the products and quantities that are available on the day that the Proforma is created. If you have open account terms with Wilton, there is a chance that if additional product is received, it will be added to your order and reflected on our shipping invoice. If you have pre-paid for your order, your fill rate should not change.

Will you back order if my items or quantities are not available?

Wilton does not back order. If items are not available at the time you have requested shipment, then you will need to re-order these items and quantities on your next order.

How do I buy Wilton seasonal products?

A large and successful portion of Wilton's business is through the sale of seasonal products (Valentine's, Easter, Graduation/Patriotic, Fall/Halloween, Christmas, etc.). These products are generally shipped only during a specific time frame a couple months in advance of the season. In order to purchase seasonal products from Wilton, a forecast must be submitted to Wilton approximately 9 months in advance of the season. Please contact our International Sales department for seasonal presentations and forecast forms.

Besides the aluminum bakeware that is very popular for cake decorating, Wilton also offers several ranges of non-stick bakeware products from opening price point to high quality specialty bakeware. What about restrictions on food imports to my country? Do you have EU food colors?

You may know better what food import restrictions there may be in your territory, and we will work with you on providing necessary documentation. Wilton does have EU versions of our Icing Colors, Decorating Gels and Decorating Tubes for those countries that cannot import Red #3 and have specific labeling guidelines. Please inquire with your sales manager about our EU food colors, as these are different sku's than our U.S. product.

What is a good way to increase the sales of Wilton products in my territory?

By offering cake decorating classes in conjunction with product sales. You may offer your own cake decorating classes or Wilton Class 1,2,3 classes. You may also contact your sales manager to ask for assistance in growing your sales through promotional materials, additional product information, etc.

Does Wilton charge for samples?

For small sample orders, Wilton does not charge for samples. However, we do ask that you pay for the freight charges to send the samples to you. A courier account number must be provided in advance.

What are the Wilton guidelines for use of the Wilton brand name and images?

The use of promotional and marketing materials, as well as websites, by our distributors and WMI to advertise our products and authorized classes is welcomed. However, there are some very important guidelines that we ask our customers to follow:

1. Wilton Images — Anytime an image borrowed from Wilton from our Yearbooks, website, or other means is used on a website, the following statement must be included under each image or on each page where our images are used: "Copyright 2004 Wilton Industries, Inc."

2. Licensed images — Licensed images (Pokemon, Disney, Sesame Street, etc.) cannot be used on a distributor's website unless the distributor has the appropriate license for that character.

3. Statements — Our distributors can claim that they are distributors of Wilton products, but they cannot claim any formal relationship with Wilton or the Wilton School.

4. References to the Wilton School of Confectionery Arts — Any mention of the Wilton School of Confectionery Arts on a distributor's website, or in any promotional or marketing materials, must refer to the Wilton School in Darien, Illinois. This is the only place that any student may attend the Wilton School.

To remain an International Wholesaler/Distributor in good standing, the above policies must be followed, as well as any additions, clarifications, or changes to them.
