Accounting: Senior Accountant

The individual will participate in monthly closing process including preparing monthly journal entries and account analysis. Assist with various analysis as well as special accounting projects and technical accounting research. Position will work with most areas of the company, will be involved in the year-end financial statement audit, and may have contact with external auditors and contact with senior management. Consumer Affairs: Assistant Culinary Specialist

Legal: Intellectual Property

The Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property’s primary role will involve managing all intellectual property (“IP”) matters for Wilton and its subsidiaries, including the prosecution, maintenance, licensing and enforcement of Wilton’s patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. This professional will partner with the business managers of Wilton to implement an IP program that directly advances the company’s overall business strategy. Responsibilities: Work with business units, including the product development, sales, and marketing teams to develop and implement IP policies, programs and strategies to support their efforts in a cost-effective manner, and actively execute the agreed strategies. Conduct regular IP reviews with business units. Work with business units and corporate staff on a wide variety of IP protection issues, including licensee non-compliance, and IP rights infringement including cease and desist and litigation, Define and oversee Wilton’s worldwide IP protection program, considering current and future anticipated operations. Clear all proposed trademarks and copyrights for use; review trademark searches and draft opinions. Prepare trademark and copyrights filings. Perform preliminary patent searches in-house; work with outside counsel on freedom to operate searches; and draft and review patent filings. Review intellectual property related aspects of commercial contracts, consulting agreements and confidentiality agreements, and lead in drafting of contracts that are primarily related to intellectual property issues. Consider market landscape and business model changes in order to develop effective policies and programs for the development and protection of Wilton’s IP. Remain up to date on industry activities, events and best practices among market leaders relative to IP protection. Promote efficient and effective dispute resolution of potential and actual IP disputes. Manage pre-litigation dispute resolution and manage and direct outside counsel on litigation matters. Provide advice and support on IP licensing matters. Review and analyze third party IP portfolios in connection with acquisitions. Provide training for employees on IP issues. Track Wilton’s IP portfolio and ensure renewals and annuities are properly reviewed and timely filed. As necessary, assist with management of counterfeit-related issues by working closely with outside law firms, investigative agencies, and business units.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be licensed to practice law in Illinois or willing to become licensed.
  • Candidate must be admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Previous corporate legal experience in intellectual property is preferred
  • Previous experience with preparation of U.S. trademarks and copyright applications strongly preferred
