Go for the Goal Football Cake

Celebrate  a birthday or your team’s big win with this ‘Go for the Goal’ Football Cake.  Made using the Countless CelebrationsTM Cake Tin Set, you can create a cake in any number (or letter) shape you would like.


  • Favourite vanilla sponge recipe (2.45 kg needed)
  • White Ready-to-Use Decorator Icing (1 kg needed)
  • Wilton 8 Piece Icing Colour Set
  • Black Fondant (113 g needed)

  • 36 cm x 50 cm Cooling Grid
  • 33 cm x 48 cm Cake Board
  • 33 cm Angled Palette Knife
  • 22 cm Straight Palette Knife
  • Flower Biscuit Cutter Set (“B” cutter used) or flower biscuit cutter with 6 petals. 
  • A4 sheet Cardboard
  • Pencil

Colours Tinted

  • Leaf Green:  480 g white icing 
  • Reserve remaining icing white



1. Pour batter into prepared tin


2. Trim corners of sponge using edge of tin insert or knife.

3. Using palette knife and white icing, ice cake smooth.


4. Cut out 8 to 10 flowers from black fondant and remove petals from flowers, leaving black hexagon.

5. Pipe white lines on top of sponge, creating white hexagons.
