Step 1

Bake cupcakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.

Step 2

Tint icing. Divide icing equally among four bowls. Tint icing following color combinations provided.

Prepare decorating bag with tip 1E. Fill randomly with tinted icing, adding more of the lighter colors and less of the darker colors.

*Combine Violet and Pink icing colors to get purple color shown. Combine Pink and Orange icing colors to get pink color shown. Combine Orange and Pink icing colors to get orange color shown. Combine Kelly Green and Sky Blue icing colors to get teal color shown.

Decorate cupcakes.

Layered Shells Cupcake: Thinking of the cupcake like a clock, pipe one elongated shell at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00, starting in center of cupcake and working towards edge. Repeat, piping four more elongated shells on top of and in between first layer.

Rings of Shells Cupcake: Pipe tight shell border around edge of cupcake.

Sweet Shell Cupcake: Starting and edge of cupcake and working towards center, pipe five shells around cupcake, moving tip in clockwise direction. Pipe star in center.
